As Sarasota County continues to face an increase in Covid-19 cases, several local organizations will sponsor vaccination clinics next weekend in conjunction with the Sarasota County Department of Health. The clinics will take place on August 28 and 29. The vaccine will be provided free of charge, and Publix and Walmart gift certificates will be given to those who are vaccinated while supplies last.
The Sarasota County Democratic Party, Sarasota Democratic Black Caucus, Sarasota Democratic Hispanic Caucus and Build Local Power work with the local organization Shots In Arms, whose mission and vision is to increase immunization rates among communities black and brown and other underserved populations.
On Saturday, August 28, vaccines will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Church of the Cross (Vida de Reino), 3005 S. Tuttle Ave., just south of Webber Street). The clinic on Sunday, August 29, will be held from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the Newtown-North Sarasota Redevelopment Office, 1782 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way at N. Osprey Avenue.
Residents aged 12 and older will be able to receive the Pfizer vaccine, with a limited number of Johnson & Johnson single-dose COVID-19 vaccines also available for residents 18 and older.
